I live in Hempnall with my wife Margaret and have been an active community campaigner for nearly 25 years having served as both a District and County councillor. It is this experience that has equipped me to serve on Norfolk County Council. I am currently a member of the Children’s Services Committee where I have been able to put my 40 years teaching experience to good use.
I have been instrumental in reforming how we deliver services for young people in the county as well as looking at the provision for tackling Mental Health issues in children from birth to 16 years.
I have campaigned successfully to keep small rural schools open and mobile libraries running. I have played an active role in supporting community activities and cultural involvement, particularly among young people, and in many regeneration and economic development projects such as promoting rural heritage and tourism.
